To coincide with BARCELONA DESIGN WEEK 2016, ARLEX is opening the doors of its showroom to the public to present the exhibition reinterpreting the MOON side tables: 10 YEARS / 10 TABLES / 10 FRIENDS. A selection of the latest products presented at the Milan Furniture Fair will also be on display, including Matrioska, designed by Estudi Ribaudí, among others.
Last October, collaborating studio Odosdesign celebrated its 10th anniversary with 10 friends who have been close to them throughout these years and whom they admire or simply feel a special affinity with. Each of them reinterpreted the MOON tables designed by Odosdesign and produced by us in a completely different way.
Manuel Lecuona, together with Lourdes Forné, reinterpreted the MOON table from the perspective of art, choosing to deconstruct the creative process through three dimensions: the aptitude of the object, narrative as a chronicle of the object, and emotion as the object’s affective force.
Borja García followed the design process in reverse, returning to its origins by touching, measuring and testing the object at full scale, and discovering sensations that cannot be experienced through a screen.
José A. Gandía Blasco approached the challenge by mixing different eras as an expression of timelessness. Alejandro Benavent reinterpreted it with confetti — what better way to celebrate a party.
Rubén Álvarez put the finishing touch on the celebration as a master chocolatier, creating a chocolate table decorated with a dodecahedron symbolising the studio’s 10 years and its passion for geometry.
Didac Ballester + Ibán Ramón created a new interpretation while respecting the identity of the original elements and inviting us to imagine new and unlimited uses.
Stone Design explored the carbonisation of wood in order to protect it from outdoor exposure and biological agents. Oscar Díaz ensured that the energy of the celebration would live on.
Xavi Mañosa represented summer at the entrance to the workshop at lunchtime — nothing is more sincere than reality itself.
And Mario Ruiz reinterpreted the table by representing the three members of the studio through different materials, creating a meaningful union in which, if one part is missing, the other two no longer work in the same way: they need each other.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 2 June to 10 June at the Arlex showroom, C/ Salvador Espriu, 29, Barcelona, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Tuesday 7 June at 7:30 pm, there will be a cocktail reception for friends, subject to prior confirmation by email at arlexbcn@arlex.es.
