Arlex Design has collaborated on the new office project for Occident at its Méndez Álvaro (Madrid) headquarters. The space was designed Batlle y Roig Arquitectes and managed by Grupo Kardharm. The project was conceived with a holistic vision that integrates architectural design, sustainability, functionality and acoustic comfort, meeting the demanding standards of the LEED Plarinum interior certification.
From the outset, the project has been highly representative, both for its technical ambition and the environmental commitment. In this context, the choice of constructive solutions was not a secondary aspect but a key element in the building’s design. Arlex Design was selected to develop and install the interior partition systems, bringing its expertise in screen solutions that meet high acoustic, functional, and aesthetic requirements.
One of the most notable aspects of this project was the close collaboration between Batlle i Roig Arquitectes and the Arlex Design team in developing and implementing the MA7 partitions, specifically adapted to the project’s requirements. The design needed to ensure 45dB acoustic insulation, according with the parameters set by LEED certification, requiring a technically robust solution that remained consistent with the architectural language of the space.
The layout of the workspace follows a logic of functional flexibility, another of the guiding principles of the project.
Beyond the technical solutions and the acoustic performance, one of the project’s most significant values was the commitment to reuse materials. Following the architect’s proposal, the selected partitions are fully demountable and reusable, allowing them to be reinstalled in future configurations without the need for demolition, regardless of the room’s intended use.
The partition is framed with a custom-designed U-shape aluminum profile used both on the top ledge and the vertical edges, highlighting the transitions between different materials and the functional use of the partition. This profile is also used to mount the signage for each room.
